Third-Party Raters

The IAGO rating system is open in its architecture. Anyone may fetch a summary of game results and crunch the numbers. It is also possible to submit your results so that they appear in the “Ratings” section of the individual users.

Game Results

The first step is to get the starting data you need. Most commonly this will include:

Some statistics will rely on existing ratings. All available ratings sets adhere to a specific schema (documentation). The following are the ratings sets currently maintained:

  • wld: Win/Loss/Draw Counts
Whether rated or not, this rating set counts all recorded wins, losses, and draws for each user, for each game that was strictly 2-player.
  • elobasic: Basic ELO (starting 1200)
This ELO rating starts at 1200. The algorithm has been modified to process games with more than 2 players, or teams of uneven numbers. Games are only rated if *all* participants have IAGO ids.

Note: The game results file is currently over 6MB in size and is generated daily. If you want to see if the file has changed without downloading the whole thing, a SHA256 hash is available at http://iagoweb.com/records/ratings/reports/results/hash

Submitting Your Results

If you wish to make your rating scheme generally available, here's what you do:

  1. First insure that your rating set adheres to the schema.
  2. Visit the Contact Us page and send a message to Aaron Dalton. Please include the result set (or a link where he can get it) and a description of what you have done.
  3. If approved, you will receive email instructions on how to submit your results to the database.
  4. If you are able to provide us with the exact algorithm you used (or better yet, Perl code that does it) then we can possibly incorporate it into the internal ratings generator. Please email Aaron for details.
